General Body

general bodyArthritis is a condition is a pain and inflammation of the joints. Arthritis does not refer to just one disease – it’s a term that covers over 100 medical conditions. Arthritis diagnosed in a general sense means that something is going wrong with one or more of your joints. What is going wrong depends on what type of arthritis you might have. Some general factors causing your specific type of arthritis might be that your cartilage may be wearing away, your joint is suffering from a lack of fluid, your body may be attacking itself (autoimmunity), infection, or a combination of more than one factor. Most individuals with arthritis will suffer from physical uneasiness, mild to severe pain, a stiff disposition and/or fatigue. Treatment options can include recommendations for physical and occupational therapy, medications such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, COX-2 inhibitors and aspirin and a reevaluation of your diet and exercise habits.

Stellate Ganglion Block

Stellate Ganglion Block is usually a product of surgery or an injury. It is an injection that can both diagnose and treat pain coming from the sympathetic nerves. Stellate Ganglion Block is a conventional treatment for shingles and complex regional pain syndromes affecting the head, face, neck or arms. To treat the problem a series of injections is usually required. The patient will lie flat on their back on our table equipped with c-arm fluoroscopy. A local anaesthetic is put into place to numb the tissue down to the ganglion nerves. The physician then inserts a needle through the anaesthetized region. A contrast solution will then be injected in order that the physician may utilize the fluoroscope to identify the painful tract and to establish the right location of the needle tip. Next, a mix of anaesthetics, saline and anti-inflammatory medicine is introduced surrounding the ganglion nerves to obstruct pain signals from arriving at the brain.

Trigger Point Injections

Trigger Point Injections are an outpatient procedure and they will reduce or relieve the discomfort of trigger points. Trigger points are small, delicate knots that can form in muscles or in the fascia (the soft, stretchy connective tissue that surrounds muscles and organs). This procedure is completed in only a few minutes. It is encouraged to stretch and move your muscle(s) after the trigger point injections.
